New Music Guild Season Opens with Nov. 12 Annual Fall Concert Showcasing Silvia Games DuBos & Patrick Wickliffe

The New Music Guild, Inc. will open its 2023-24 season at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Holy Apostles Parish, 421 Covington St. in downtown Youngstown, at 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 12th, 2023 with a multifaceted concert. The Guild focuses on performance of works by living composers and sponsors visits by guest composers and performers. The season culminates with the nationally recognized Annual May Festival that includes concerts and lectures as well as elementary and high school educational events.

The Sunday afternoon concert will feature two guest artists: cellist Silvia Games DuBos and pianist Patrick Wickliffe, playing music by classical and modern composers.

Mrs. Games DuBos is an Argentinian cellist residing in the USA, since 2006. As one of the Directors and Organizers of the ArsDocta International Music Festival, Mrs. Games Dubos is dedicated to promoting and supporting young talents from over the world.

From an early age, she has been sharing the performance and teaching activities in institutions such as the Suzuki Method of Cordoba and Buenos Aires National Conservatory (IUNA), Argentina, Duquesne University, as well as at the Eleazar de Carvalho Summer Music Festival (Brazil), ArsDocta Music Festival (France, Argentina, USA), and Festival Quito Cellos (Ecuador). She has played as principal cellist at Duquesne University Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, as well as at the Chamber and Symphony Orchestras of the Lanus National University .

At the present, she is the Principal Cello of Washington Symphony, PA and at the Greenville Symphony, PA respectively and cello section of Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.

With extensive experience in teaching to students of all ages in Argentina, The USA, Brazil, South America , and France, Mrs. DuBos combines a range of experience with the ability to be a comprehensive and enthusiastic teacher who always makes a positive contribution to the students. Being fluent in Spanish and English allows her to have a wide spectrum of students and work in conjunction with the students’ cultures and languages. At the present, she is String Program faculty at SMARTS, a Community Art school in Youngstown, OH, working with students K-12 and has her private studios in the Pittsburgh, PA, and Youngstown, OH areas, applying traditional and Suzuki as teaching teaching.

Mrs. Games DuBos lives in Campbell, OH with her husband Nicholas DuBos with whom shares a passion for Music, Art, and traveling and their cat Blondie.

Collaborative pianist and composer, Patrick Wickliffe holds Master and Doctorate Composition degrees form Kent State and the University of Cincinnati. For the last ten years he has been active as a church musician in greater Cleveland. He is a gifted accompanist and solo artist.

The concert will open with performances by New Music Guild Coordinators, Gwyneth Rollin, violin and Robert Rollin, piano. They will play several of Rollin’s works including Night Thoughts I, Lyric Counterpoint on a Theme by Warshawsky, and Seven Sound-Images; Gaines DuBos will reprise Remembering Sally, for solo cello, recollections of talented violinist Sally Moloy Dolovy and will premiere a new composition in memory Rollin’s longtime friend, Wayne Kankovsky, who was a fine trombonist and community activist. Gains DuBos and Wickliffe will perform an Argentinian Tango, a movement by Bach, and two Rollin pieces.

An after party with refreshments in honor of Silvia Games DuBos And Patrick Wickliffe will take place at the Church basement fellowship hall immediately following the Sunday afternoon concert.
